The Editorial Board of MMEA is pleased to announce that the Michigan Music Educator is currently seeking submissions for our 2024 “relaunch”. Click the link at the bottom to e-mail your article directly to the editor, or use our new MMEJ Submission Form.
We are especially interested in papers/manuscripts that fall into one of two categories:
- Articles written for/by practicing teachers: These submissions, likely between 1,000 and 3,000 words, are written with the classroom teacher in mind, with engaging, relevant information that can be considered and used in PK-12 settings, in and outside of formal school music-making. Submissions may include photos, video/audio examples, and other resources, as long as the author can provide proof of copyright/fair use. Manuscripts in this category will be reviewed by the MME editor for clarity and organization, and they may appear online both in a “blog” style format and in a collected issue of the journal.
- Scholarly articles: These submissions, likely between 3,000 and 5,000 words, may include original research in any methodology, literature reviews, and other “scholarly” submissions. Manuscripts in this format should conform to either APA 7 or Chicago/Turabian citation styles. These submissions will go through a blind review process and then be returned for editing and potential online publication in a collected issue of the journal.
