The Higher Education Committee of the Michigan Music Education Association invites researchers – undergraduate, graduate, faculty, and practicing educators – to submit their original research for presentation at the 2026 Michigan Music Conference!

MMEA Research Poster Session – Call for Proposals

GUIDELINESS FOR SUBMISSION: 

1. Submit an abstract, fewer than 300 words in length. 
2. The research may be of any type as long as it relates to music education. We especially encourage research relevant to practicing teachers, and collaboration between university students/faculty and K-12 educators is strongly encouraged. All accepted posters will receive feedback from colleagues and the MMEA Higher Education Committee Headliner, Dr. Bridget Sweet.
3. Accepted styles for abstract and poster include: Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA); A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations (Turabian) or The Chicago Manual of Style (Chicago).
4. Please submit abstracts electronically. To facilitate the review process, please indicate only the title in the file. No files should contain clues as to author identity or institutional affiliation. Send the file as an attachment in Word Document (.doc) or Portable Document (.pdf) format. 
5. In the body of the e-mail, please include the following information: (a) name(s) of author(s), (b) current position(s) and institutional affiliation(s), (c) mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address (submitter only), (d) the submission title, (e) and any instances of prior presentation. Please use “MMC Research Poster Session” in the subject line.
6. Please make all submissions by Sunday, November 16th at 11:59 p.m. to Jacob Berglin at jacob.berglin@wmich.edu.

AFTER SUBMISSION:

1. Submissions will be anonymously (blind) reviewed by a panel of qualified reviewers, who will communicate decisions and overall comments via email by Monday, November 24th.
2. Each accepted presenter will present their poster at the “Meet the Authors” session at the 2025 Michigan Music Conference, on the Friday morning of the conference.

All presenters and attendees should be members of NAfME or one of the MMC sponsoring organizations and register for the conference. Out of state submissions are welcomed! Information about registration can be found at http://www.michiganmusicconference.org
